The Opportunity

As a Senior Transportation Planner, you'll lead our team in revolutionizing integrated, multimodal transportation systems. Your role is pivotal in ensuring the safe and efficient movement of people and goods throughout communities and public spaces. Collaborating with a diverse team of urban planners, landscape architects, traffic engineers, and civil engineers, you'll spearhead consulting services aimed at enhancing transportation networks while being sensitive to land use, market dynamics, and community preferences.

What We're Seeking

We're seeking an enterprising and innovative transportation planner with a holistic design mindset. Your expertise in multimodal transportation solutions, such as Complete Streets and Low Stress Bikeways, will be instrumental. You thrive in diverse project contexts and possess strong analytical and communication skills. Your passion for advancing context-sensitive design in transportation is evident in all your endeavors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead multimodal transportation planning initiatives across various contexts, from statewide to neighborhood levels.
  • Drive teams in projects and public engagement activities, shaping transportation policies and practices.
  • Spearhead visionary transportation planning projects, fostering innovation and quality.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, positioning Barge as a leader in transportation planning.
  • Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion in transportation planning processes.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders at federal, state, and local levels to build lasting relationships.
  • Manage technical delivery of transportation planning projects across the Southeastern United States.
  • Mentor and guide technical specialists, fostering a culture of innovation and growth.


Education & Experience Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's (preferably a Master's degree) in Transportation Planning, Urban Planning or Design, Civil Engineering, Landscape Architecture, or a related field.
  • AICP certification is preferred.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in multimodal transportation planning, preferably with MPOs, DOTs, or municipalities.
  • Proficiency in transportation planning software, GIS tools, and data analysis techniques.
  • Experience in graphic production using Sketchup and Adobe Creative Suite is desirable.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and oral.
