What We're Looking For:
The Safety and Compliance Coordinator will establish, train, and monitor safety and compliance programs and policies to ensure the well-being of all Barge Design employees. As the primary lead for safety, the coordinator will conduct observations of employees across a variety of settings, including active construction sites and field settings. In addition, the Safety and Compliance Coordinator, will conduct safety education and training programs; investigate accidents, conduct site safety inspections, and work with Barge Design leadership to conduct safety inspections and produce necessary reporting for various state and local entities. Develop and implement safety programs and policies tailored to the specific needs of our firm, considering the sectors in which we operate and compliance with governmental and regulatory agencies.

Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with management to implement safety policies and procedures.
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local safety laws, regulations, codes, and rules.
  • Ensures completion of required OSHA recordkeeping and reporting.
  • Provides technical and administrative support, inclusive of record management.
  • Identifies opportunities to minimize workplace injuries, accidents, and health problems.
  • Conducts or facilitates employee training on applicable safety standards.
  • Reviews safety training and recommends revisions, improvements, and updates.
  • Conducts safety inspections and audits to assess employee compliance with safety regulations.
  • Shares environmental safety information with appropriate levels in the organization.
  • Reviews current safety training and recommends revisions, improvements, and updates.
  • Presents training and development programs using various forms and formats including group discussion, lecture, simulations, and videos.
  • Maintains knowledge of the latest trends regarding safety to drive process improvement.
  • Reviews existing policies, procedures, and programs for potential improvements.
  • Travel up to 70% of the time.
  • Reviews accident and incident reports.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.


Education & Experience Qualifications:
  • Associate or bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience in safety management, preferably in the architectural, engineering, or construction industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant safety regulations, codes, and standards.
  • Strong understanding of safety best practices and their application in diverse work environments.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively train and engage employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to analyze complex situations, identify potential risks, and develop practical solutions.
  • Familiarity with safety documentation and reporting requirements.
  • Certification in occupational health and safety, such as CSP (Certified Safety Professional) or similar, preferred.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, work independently, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
