What We're Looking For:
Barge Design Solutions is currently seeking to fill the position of Electrical Engineer to join our Facilities Engineering Solution Center.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborates with project team members, client representatives, review agencies to provide a comprehensive project report or detailed design.
- Leads technical electrical design portions of projects in a multi-discipline environment
- Designs electrical systems for facilities projects including water/wastewater treatment, commercial, institutional, federal, DOD, utility, and industrial facilities
- Designs site utility and lighting systems
- Mentors electrical interns and designers on team
- Prepares engineering and design documents using computer assisted engineering and design software to generate 2D and 3D models and plans.
- Prepares or modifies reports, specifications, plans, permits, and designs for project
- Performs lighting photometric designs.
- Performs electrical calculations for voltage drop and cable sizing, electrical service sizing, panelboard, and electrical equipment designs.
- Performs electrical studies including short circuit analysis, coordination, and arc flash studies.
- Performs design of low voltage systems for data/voice, access control, CCTV, and fire alarm.
- Coordinates with other disciplines including civil, architectural, structural, and mechanical engineering to complete detailed designs.
- Participates in project site visits as needed.
- Conducts on-site visits to monitor progress of projects
- Facilitates Construction Administration on projects by reviewing submittals and respond to requests for information from contractors.
- Demonstrates strong attention to detail
- Implements code requirements on projects including National Electrical Code, standard operations, policies, and procedures.
- Reviews work developed by others for quality purposes
- Performs other duties as requested
Education & Experience Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university
- Professional Engineer (PE) registration, or ability to obtain within 1 year
- Minimum of 4 years of engineering experience required, 5-8 years, a plus
- Experience with design of automotive manufacturing, tire manufacturing, and water/waste water treatment a plus
- Experience using Revit is preferred
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret job-related manuals and documents
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
