What We're Looking For:
Barge Design Solutions is currently seeking an Environmental & Natural Resources Manager in the Environmental & Natural Resources division at our Gainesville, FL office location. This position will be responsible for managing and growing our environmental resources team throughout Florida region.
This position will report to the Director of Environmental & Natural Resources and will be highly visible in a company that prefers to promote from within. The optimal candidate will help grow this department with excellent staff management, communication, organizational, and technical skills. Responsibilities:
- Provide Senior level leadership and review. Be able to effectively manage and schedule multiple staff in several locations across Florida while collaborating with peers in other states across the Barge's footprint. Coordinate staff and assign tasks to meet milestones and deadlines.
- Supports and grows a multidisciplinary team to provide environmental services including but not limited to environmental permitting, wetland mitigation banking, species banking, water quality project design and implementation, energy sector projects, DOT sector projects, coastal resiliency, land management, wetland delineations and jurisdictional determinations, and habitat assessments.
- Efficiently identify issues and problem-solve in order to avoid delays. Mentor staff and promote culture of high expectations in regard to quality of deliverables, safety, and a positive and energetic working environment.
- Supports ongoing Natural Resources projects including wetland mitigation/restoration, wetland delineations, protected species habitat assessments and surveys, water quality projects, aggregate and peat mining projects, renewable energy projects, and Clean Water Act (CWA) Section 404/401 permitting.
- Prepares natural resources technical reports, and other environmental regulatory compliance documents
Manage local wetland/environmental subs on large projects where local teaming is required. - Assists with the development of proposal scope and fees, assists project managers with project completion with regards to client communication, staff/equipment management, budget, schedule and quality requirements.
Education & Experience Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in applicable field such as biology, ecology, environmental science/policy, environmental engineering, natural resources planning or a closely related discipline
- 5 plus years of experience in staff management, preferred
- 10 plus years of experience in technical writing and field efforts including environmental permitting, mitigation banking/restoration projects in the coastal southeast on both Gulf and Atlantic coasts.
- Master's degree, a plus
- Experience in FDOT requirements
- Strong interpersonal/communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast paced-collaborative team atmosphere with an established group of engineers, scientists, surveyors and administrative staff
- Light travel (25%) is required
