Director of Finance

What We're Looking For:
Barge Design Solutions is seeking a Director of Finance who will provide strategic financial leadership and oversee all financial operations for Barge Design Solutions, Inc. The ideal candidate will combine strong finance knowledge with business acumen to drive financial planning, project profitability analysis, and sustainable growth while managing relationships with clients, partners, and internal stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Direct all financial operations, including accounting, budgeting, and reporting
• Lead annual budgeting process and monthly/quarterly forecasting
• Oversee project financial management, including utilization rates and profitability analysis
• Develop and maintain financial controls and compliance procedures
• Provide strategic financial guidance to executive team and board
• Oversee preparation of financial statements and external audit process
• Monitor and optimize project margins and company profitability
• Ensure excellent customer service by providing timely and accurate information to stakeholders, as needed
• Performs other duties as requested/ assigned
• Drive continuous improvement in financial processes and systems
• Maintain highest standards of accuracy and integrity in financial reporting
• Provide proactive financial insights to support business growth
• Ensure timely delivery of financial deliverables and analysis
• Build and maintain strong relationships with external partners
• Stay current with industry trends and best practices
• Support company's strategic initiatives through financial leadership
• Maintain confidentiality and professional standards

Education & Experience Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting, or related field; MBA preferred
• 10+ years of progressive financial management experience; AEC industry experience is a plus
• 3+ years management experience
• Strong understanding of revenue recognition principles for consulting services
• Knowledge of accounting practices and experience with Federal Acquisition Regulations Part 31 required
• Knowledge of relevant GAAP accounting rules and regulations.
• Experience with BST Global or similar ERP systems for general accounting.
• Experience with business intelligence tools such as Power BI is highly desirable.
• Advanced expertise in financial modeling and forecasting
• Proficiency in ERP systems and project accounting software is preferred
• Strong analytical skills with ability to translate complex financial data into actionable insights
• Strong Excel skills and experience with business intelligence tools
• Knowledge of industry-specific KPIs and metrics
• Risk management and internal controls expertise
• Contract review and negotiation capabilities
• Strong communication, teamwork, customer service, and interpersonal skills
• Flexibility and the willingness and ability to respond to a rapidly changing environment and manage multiple priorities and projects
• Professional maturity with the ability to demonstrate professionalism in action, word, and presence
• Demonstrated success prioritizing and organizing information and needs on behalf of self and others
• Proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion, be adaptable to various competing demands, and demonstrate the highest level of client service and employee response
• Ability to support the team by championing an uplifting environment with a positive attitude
• Demonstrated ability to work in a fluid environment with demonstrated success identifying resourceful solutions
