What We're Looking For:
Barge Design Solutions is currently seeking to fill the Director of Public Facilities Practice Area in the Facilities business unit in Huntsville, AL or another major Barge location. This role has responsibility to drive strategic growth and provide technical direction for state and local government building design, architecture, and engineering. Time is spent providing overall guidance to the practice area while still supporting design projects as an engaged subject matter specialist. This role assists the Business Unit Director by championing the practice area financial performance and investment opportunities, while driving continuous improvement in staffing and quality of design. This role also collaborates with Client Service Leaders on the growth and sales of the practice area across the Barge footprint.

  • Works directly with Business Unit team, other internal units, and Client Service Leaders to market and grow the Public Facilities practice
  • Oversight and leadership of Business Development activities supporting Public Facilities
  • Maintains client relationships and develop new client relationships
  • Collaborates with Technical Services to provides input to proposals and Project Management Plans to ensure accurate schedule, scope and budgets
  • Assists Director of Projects to develop standards and guidelines while ensuring compliance and supporting performance measures
  • Active role in developing and executing annual strategic and business planning activities
  • Serve as a member of the Facilities Business Unit leadership team
  • Leads and facilitates a collaborative work environment and advances initiatives that support a positive workplace culture
  • Contributes to and executes strategies to support defined region through establishing strong relationships with all business units by working with Business Unit Directors and other subject matter specialists on reconnaissance, pursuits, and securing of work
  • Collaborates with marketing to complete go/stop analysis and develop win plan
  • Represents the company at various events including promoting organization various client events and at industry trade associations
  • Maintains communication with teams to monitor progress of project, ensure client engagement, and lead conflict resolution. Provides technical support to ensure successful deliverables.
  • Ensure customer relationship management (CRM) tool maintenance
  • Performs other duties as required

Education & Experience Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree from accredited program and a minimum of 10 years' experience
  • Applicable registration as required by discipline (Professional Engineer or Registered Architect)
  • Business Administration and Leadership training preferred
  • Strong technical knowledge in discipline and/or market practice area
  • Keeps informed regarding new methods and developments affecting the organization and recommends new practices or changes in emphasis
  • Client services and business development capability to network and close deals
  • Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to effectively lead and motivate employees
  • Ability to make sound business decisions guided by Barge's overall strategy
