What We're Looking For:
Barge Design Solutions is currently seeking to fill the position of Structural / Bridge Design Engineer one of the following areas Nashville, TN, Atlanta, GA, Peachtree Corners, GA, Huntsville, AL, Birmingham, AL, Panama City, FL, or the surrounding areas. Remote work may be available.

  • Acts as a technical lead on the bridge design team to design highway bridge projects for public clients at the local, county or state level
  • Responsible for completing a subset of project documents
  • Independently and confidently performs structural engineering design, modeling and calculations associated with highway bridge design projects
  • Plans, develops and coordinates bridge engineering designs
  • Prepares and modifies reports specifications, plans, permits, and designs for bridge related projects
  • Collaborates with project team members, client representatives, review agencies to help resolve a variety of complex problems
  • Assists in project scope and budget development
  • Uses computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to prepare engineering and design documents
  • Performs bridge inspections for routine and complex bridge structures, prepare reports and bridge repair plans, and coordinate with other team members.
  • Manages multiple projects simultaneously
  • Directs EITs and Designers in preparation of project plans
  • Performs and/or checks design calculations, estimates, and specifications
  • Follows internal QA/QC procedures set forth by the company and the design team
  • Completes reviews of bridge plans
  • Performs other duties as requested

Education & Experience Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university
  • Master's degree in Civil Engineering with Structural emphasis, preferred
  • 5-10 years of experience, preferred
  • Experience with owners such as TDOT, GDOT, FDOT, and/or ALDOT, strongly preferred
  • Design-build project delivery experience
  • Experience using AutoCAD and/or MicroStation is a plus
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret job-related manuals and documents
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong interpersonal/communication skills
  • Demonstrates strong attention to detail
  • Familiarity with bridge design standards in multiple states is a plus
  • Ability to work in a fast paced-collaborative team atmosphere with an established group of surveyors, engineers, scientists, and administrative staff.
